Abstract

1,080,926. Boots &c. D. G. WARTH. Oct. 5, 1965 [Oct. 5, 1964], No. 40539/64. Heading A3B. An inflatable sole consists of an upper part 3 and a lower part 4, both having hemispherical recesses 5, 6 which form air chambers, the two parts being secured together around their edges to form a gastight seal. The parts 3, 4 may be made of rubber and the sole is inflated through a non-return valve (not shown). During inflation air can pass through gaps 10 between the two parts, but when the user places his weight on the sole the gaps 10 close so that each sphere becomes separated from every other sphere.
