Abstract
1,079,290. Reinforced concrete structures. A. BIRGUER. Aug. 24, 1965 [May 21, 1965], No. 36215/65. Heading E1W. In a process for making a structure including a prefabricated concrete beam, the tension zone of the beam is prestressed by means of tensioned reinforcement 6, after which a non-stressed metal element 8 is fastened to the tension zone by high tensile bolts 10 with the interposition of a layer 9 of adhesive material which is allowed to set, and finally a second prestress is applied to the structure by means of tensioned reinforcement 7 in the tension zone of the beam. One or more further non- stressed metal elements 2, 3 are provided on the compression zone of the beam, these elements being either attached by studs 5 when the beam is cast, or fixed by high tensile bolts after the first prestress is applied to the tension zone by the reinforcements 6. An upper slab 12 may be cast before the second prestress is applied, and the beam may have connecting rods which engage in the slab. Cables 13 for tranverse prestress are provided.
