Abstract

1,078,665. Filling containers; delivering measured quantities of liquid. SOCIETE D'ETUDES. Aug. 14, 1964, No. 33276/64. Headings B8N and B8T. [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] Apparatus for charging systems, e.g. cooling circuits, fire extinguishers and atomizers for perfumes, insecticides and paints, with a volatile liquid comprises a receptacle 1 supplied with liquid from a reservoir, not shown, via a duct 7, having a flow adjustment valve 10, dehydrators 8 and a shut-off valve 9. The duct 7 is also provided with a valve 11 controlled by a photo-electric cell 12, which when masked by a float 5 closes the valve. A receptacle 2 is connected to receptacle 1 by ducts 4 and 3 for vapour and liquid, respectively. The duct 4 is provided with a flow control valve 13 and a valve 14 controlled by a photo-electric cell 15. The receptacle 2 is connected by a duct 16 to the mouthpiece 17 of a pipe connection, Fig. 3 (not shown), for connection to the mouthpiece 23 of a system to be charged. The pipe connection (see Division F2), is provided with means for locking the mouthpiece 17 to the mouthpiece 23 and means for actuating relays which control lamps 25 and 27. The pipe connection also controls a lamp 26 associated with a photo-electric cell 18 for controlling a compressed air supply to the mouthpiece locking means. The cells 12 and 15 are adjustable relative to the receptacles 1, 2 to vary the liquid quantity supplied thereto. In operation liquid is transferred from the receptacle 1 to the receptacle 2 in one step and from the receptacle 2 to the system to be charged as the receptacle 1 fills up in a second step. The pressure in the vessels of the apparatus is the saturated vapour pressure of the volatile liquid.
