Abstract

An alloy has the following percentage composition by weight:- .C.up to 0.03 .Cr.16-18 .Mo.2.5-3.5 .W.2-3.5 .Nb (and incidental Ta).6-8 .Ti.0.5-1.15 .Al.0.4-1 .Fe.17-20 .B.up to 0.01 .Ni.the balance 2.5-4.5% Ta may be deliberately added, the Nb content then being 3-5%. The alloy may be heat treated at 1950 DEG F. for 1 hour and air cooled; it is then heated to 1400 DEG F. for 8 hours, furnace cooled to 1200 DEG F., held for 10 hours and air cooled.
