Abstract

1,077,457. Thermionic valves. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Feb. 8, 1966 [Feb. 8, 1965], No. 5520/66. Heading H1D. To reduce generation of spurious RF signal radiation in a beam tetrode valve, the sidewalls of the beam-confining electrode 43 are so shaped, with ridges and grooves, as to be non-uniformly spaced from the anode 41 and the aligned control and screen grids 37, 39. The valve may be used in the horizontal deflection circuitry of a television receiver and various possible reasons for the reduction in the occurrence of spurious RF oscillations are given. The beam-confining electrode may be of generally rectangular cross-section with rectangular apertures in its major faces, generally pyramidal grooves and ridges being provided adjacent the longitudinal sides of these apertures, Fig. 4 and 5 (not shown).
