Abstract

In apparatus for bulking a bundle of filaments or a multifilamentory yarn by subjection to the convoluting and/or looping action of a turbulent fluid zone, the bundle &c. is introduced rectilinearly by a guide member into a venturi member one part of which is a fluid injection passage and another part includes a greater part of a throat creating the zone. The juncture of the guide and venturi members is rendered air-tight by surface-to-surface contact between their abutting surfaces. The exit from the guide member and the entry to the venturi are disposed concentrically and the diameter of the former is at least as great as that of the latter. The fluid injecting passage and the longitudinal axis of the venturi passage are contained in the same plane. Uniform looping &c. results from the elimination of secondary zone(s) of fluid turbulence.
