Abstract

1275851 Treating materials with gases LUWA AG 29 July 1970 [30 July 1969] 36785/70 Heading D1L An endless sliver is treated with gas which is flowing in the form of a vortex. The material is close to the vortical axis, yet outside the core of the vortex. Sliver 16 passes through the apparatus 10, seen in Fig. 1 to have a conical vertical section. Treating gas enters via the port 14 and exits via opening 15. The apparatus has a spiral cross section and this together with the conical longitudinal section, generates a vortical flow screen 20 is so shaped that the opening 20b in it corresponds to the core of the vortex where the gas is moving vertically. The sliver 16 passes through 20b at its periphery. The process is useful for aircooling freshly-spun threads.
