Abstract

1,076,356. Supply systems for X-ray apparatus GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 27, 1966 [May 19, 1965], No. 21206/65. Heading H2H. In a circuit employing the self-rectification properties of an X-ray tube 1 which is connected to an A.C. supply through a transformer, the voltage rise on negative half cycles prevented by an impedance 5 and silicon diode 6 in series with the primary winding 4 and another impedance 7À1 in parallel, or across a separate winding 9. A further diode 8À1 may be connected in series with the impedance 7À1. Preferably the ratio of the impedances is such as to substantially reduce the D.C. component of flux in the core. The shunt impedance may be alternatively connected across the secondary winding 2. A capacitor may be also connected across the primary winding if the circuit capacitance is insufficient.
