Abstract

A powder mixture for the production of sintered bodies comprises:- .Cu.1-10% .Mn.1-5% .C.(e.g. graphite) 0.01-1.0% .B.(in the form of a boron ..compound) 0.01-0.25% the balance, apart from impurities, being iron, the mixture containing no nickel. The boron compound may be boric acid, boric anhydride or copper borate. The mixture may be compacted at 10-50 tons per square inch at room temperature and sintered at 1050 DEG -1400 DEG C. in a protective atmosphere (e.g. cracked ammonia).
