Abstract

1,074,157. Spools. L. WEBSTER. Oct. 4, 1965 [Oct. 2, 1964], No. 40109/64. Heading B8M. [Also in Division G2] A spool comprises two portions, one portion having a flange and one end of a tube concentrically attached to the flange, the other portion having a flange and one end of a rod concentrically attached to it, -the rod being a sliding fit in the tube. The tube is provided with a longitudinal slot which registers with a longitudinal groove in the rod. In use, one end of a roll of paper or like material is fed into the aligned slot and groove, the rod is twisted to bring the slot and groove out of alignment and thus grip the end, .a roll of paper is .thus wound on the spool. To remove the roll, the two portions of the spool are pulled apart.
