Abstract

107,394. Robinson, J. G., and Superheater Corporation. March 31, 1916. Fire and smoke tube superheaters.-An element has four or more U-loops, two or more of which extend into a corresponding number of smoketubes in a vertical row, and two or more extend into a corresponding number of smoke-tubes in the next vertical row. Two steam inflow ends of the U-loops may be united to a single inlet pipe, and two outlet ends may be united to a single outlet pipe, the inlet and outlet pipes having cross-sectional areas equal to the areas of the two inflow and outlet ends. The elements 4, Fig. 3, inserted in horizontal and vertical rows of smoke-tubes, ara secured to the sides of a vertical header 11 by flange blocks 7. The ends of U-loops 38, 40, Fig. 20, in horizontal rows of smoke-tubes, open into enlarged pipes 39, 41 connecting the element to the header. The ends of U-loops 30, Figs. 14, 15 in vertical rows of smoketubes are extended upwards towards the header and are connected to Y-shaped junction-pieces 34<a>.
