Still another object of my invention is to provide a construction in which the headers are made up of cylindrical header ends nested together in a highly convenient and practical manner.
The nature of my improvements will be best understood as described in connection Y. and

As shown, each row of cylindrical units is fastened together alternately by rivets, as indicatedv at 12, and by nipples, as indicated at 14, and the yends of the rowsare connected by nipples, as indicated at 16, 18 and 20 so as to provide asinuous path through the heater when the headers are connected by kwater tubes 8, the ends of which are con-` tracted, as shown inl Fig. 2, for the double purpose of providing spaces, indicated at l0.

The headers are, of course, provided with the usual hand holes whichare closed by covers of any convenient i construction. Conveniently, vthe heater section, made up, as shown, of four rows of header ends, is enclosed in a frame made up of plates 32 and 38. Y
24 indicates the water supply pipe connected by an inlet branch 22 with the first header section, and 26 is a branch pipe con- -suiiicientstrength ina header end of less v necting the vrear vheader section with the p water supply pipe; each branch pipe is provided with a valve indicated at 28, and a valve, indicated at 30, is located in the water supply pipe between its connection with the branch pipes. When the section is in operation, the valve 30 will, of course, be closed and the valves 28 open, and by closingthe valve 28 and yby opening the valve 30 the Y header section can be cut out.

A steam boiler having in combination headers, spaced water tubes connectingsaid headers having contracted ends whereby enlarged spaces between the tubes are formedv adjacent tot-he headers and steam soot blowing nozzlesextending through said enlarged spaces. f Y 2. A steam boiler having headers made up vof cylindrical units nested together sothat Y alternate rows will be staggered, in combination with watertubes connecting opposite Y units of the headers nipple connections connecting adjacent header unitsyin pairs to provide for the desired circulation in the boiler and rivets securing adj acentinterconnected headers together.
