Abstract

1,073,395. Spray carburetters. ACF INDUSTRIES Inc. April 21, 1965, No. 16689/65. Heading F1B. In an automatic choke mechanism comprising a choke valve closed by a bi-metallic coil 147 and urged open by a suction actuated piston 160, the suction port 163 is closed by piston 160 when the latter is in an intermediate position corresponding to a partially open choke valve. Further opening of the choke valve is controlled solely by the coil 147 which is carried by a stud 133 of an insulated cover 127, Fig. 1 (not shown) of a chamber 113 fixed to a mounting plate 107 on the side of the carburetter. The coil 147 is heated by an electric coil 141 seated in a ceramic block 135, the heater being switched on when the ignition circuit is closed. The choke spindle 27 passes loosely through a bore 127 in the wall of chamber 113; a filter 121 around the spindle 27 filter atmospheric air entering chamber 113 through the bore 127. The float bowl 33 is clamped in position by a nut 37 and the fuel nozzle comprises an adjustable needle 70 which also serves to conduct fuel to the idle fuel passages 75...77.
