Abstract
1,087,897. Spray carburetters. SOC. ANON. ANDRE CITROEN. July 7, 1965 [July 7, 1964; Jan. 15, 1965], No.28857/65. Heading F1B. [Also in Division F4] A diaphragm carburetter 35 supplies a fuelair mixture to the combustion chamber of a vehicle air heater (see Division F4) under the influence of an induction fan which withdraws the combustion gases from the combustion chamber. Air enters the mixing chamber 62 of the carburetter through a filter 63. Fuel (e.g. petrol) passes to chamber 62 via a chamber 52, a jet 53 closable by a valve 54, chamber 59 and manually adjustable needle valve 61. Valve 54 is opened by movement of a diaphragm 65 forming one wall of chamber 59, the diaphragm moving inwards under the influence of the vacuum caused by the induction fan, and a pin 57 then co-operating with a lever 55 to open valve 54. On ignition of the fuel-air mixture, the pressure increases, thus relaxing diaphragm 65 and closing jet 53, until the pressure is again reduced by the fan. If the heater exceeds a preset temperature a thermostat on the heater causes a current to flow through a solenoid 64 which then attracts the diaphragm to prevent the opening of jet 53 and the flow of fuel.
