Improvements in variable venturi carburettors with idling system, of the type that includes an induction duct; a movable element configured to cooperate with an induction duct wall to define a variable area venturi; means that position the mobile element in response to a vacuum at the venturi outlet; a jet assembly in communication with the venturi and with a fuel supply device, characterized in that the jet assembly comprises a main fuel dispenser dispenser separating the venturi and an auxiliary jet adjacent to the venturi, the auxiliary jet having a larger bore than the main supplier; a tapered needle carried by the movable member in cooperation with both jets to define jet areas that vary with movement of the movable member; a butterfly in the induction duct at the venturi outlet; an air bypass channel having an intake hole in the induction duct at the inlet of the throttle and an outlet hole at the outlet of the throttle; and a fuel bypass channel that has an intake port between the main and auxiliary jets and that discharges into the air bypass channel.
