Abstract
1,072,520. Moulding briquettes. STAMICARBON N.V. Nov. 25, 1964 [Nov. 25, 1963], No. 47997/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division G3] In a briquetting press having rollers 33, 34 fed with material, e.g. a mixture of coal and pitch from a hopper 21 the hopper gate 40 is controlled by a controller responsive to transverse displacement of the roller 33 and the level of material in the hopper 20 is maintained substantially constant. The controller 44 which includes desired value setting mechanism receives a signal from a displacement to current or pressure transducer 41 and its output signal is fed to an operating device 45 which controls the gate 40 and to an operating device 46 which controls a delivery valve 47 movable between two positions. The controller 24 receives an input signal from a differential transformer 27 the core of which is connected by a cam 26 to a level detector 23 and its output signal is fed to a differential transformer 28 which controls the sliding gate 18 of a kneader 9 which supplies the hopper 20 via a conveyer 19. The cam 26 operates a maximum level switch 30 connected to a timer 31 which determines the period of time for which a discharge gate is opened. The kneader 9 is fed from a trough 8 which receives coal from supply 1, 4 and pitch from supply 2, 5 via a common conveyer 3. The absence of coal or pitch is signalled by devices 6 or 7 and a radio-active detector 13, 14, 15 co-operates with kneader overflow passage 12.
