Abstract

[Also in Division B8] In a batch weighing apparatus in which a weighing hopper 11 is fed with material 12 by a screw conveyer 10, the outlet of the screw conveyer 10 is provided with one or more plates 14 which ensure a clean cut-off of feed when a predetermined weight of material has been fed to the hopper 11. The outlet may be provided with diverging side walls (13), Fig.2 (not shown) and the plates 14 may be wedge shaped. The screw conveyer 10 may be electrically driven under the control of the weighing hopper 11 in such a way that when the predetermined weight of material is in the hopper the conveyer is stopped until the hopper has been emptied, the conveyer then being re-actuated to supply further material to the hopper.
