Abstract

1,072,095. Caps for bottles &c. AMERICAN FLANGE & MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. July 27, 1964, No. 29909/64. Heading B8T. A bottle &c. lip for a crown cap includes annular recesses 22 and 20 separated by a vertical cylindrical wall 21, the bottom portion 13 of the cap skirt 6 being crimped under the recess 20 and the cap having a resilient gasket J a small portion 25 of which extends beyond the recess 22. When the cap bows upwardly owing to increased internal pressure, the effectiveness of the seal is increased. A tearing ear (8, Fig. 6) and a pair of internal score lines (9, Fig. 6) extending up the skirt from either side of the ear (8) and across the cap top 5 are provided. The gasket 7 may cover the entire top 5 of the cap.
