A coupling for allowing flexing and free loading between structural components such as a hyperbolic paraboloid roof 21 and its wall - supporting mullions 29 comprises a mullion bracket 12 having welded thereto a socket member 11 holding a ball 14 with a pin 16 passing therethrough the ends thereof being slidably mounted in slots 17 in lugs 18 attached to a connecting plate 19 on the roof edge. Circlips 21 prevent axial movement of the pin while distance pieces 24 prevent movement of the ball and socket joint along the pin. In equilibrium the roof shell is self-supporting, the mullions then being sufficiently strong to be self-supporting and to support glazing or other infilling material.
