Abstract
1,071,582. Valves. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. June 24, 1964 [June 6, 1963], No. 26040/64. Heading F2V. In a gas control device for a water heater, the gas outlet from a manually controlled stopcock plug 441 (Fig. 4) is controlled by a diaphragm actuated by water pressure which displaces a control member 414 to unseat a seating washer faced closure 446, against a spring 417, from a seat 447 around the plug outlet and which, via an axially slipping clutch formed by an annular ring 426 on member 414, unseats a closure 423 from plug seat 422 to an extent limited by a stop 428. An adjustable gas regulator 448 is sited above closure 446. In alternative embodiments the stopcock 441 may be omitted with either the closure 423 alone or both valve closures seated directly around the gas passage, or the closure 423 alone may be employed with the manually operated stopcock 441. The closure (746) (Fig. 7, not shown) fixed to the control member may also seat around the outlet of the plug (741) with an upstanding cylindrical extension (751) therefrom acting as an axially slipping clutch in engagement with a sleeve (724) of a closure (723) which seats around the gas passage thereabove and is restrained in opening movement by an adjustable sleeve (749) of the gas regulator 748. The stopcock plug (741) may also be omitted. The closure (854) (Fig. 8, not shown) driven through the slipping clutch, may also comprise apertures (855) offset with respect to similar apertures (853) in a seat member (852). The device may be employed in continuous flow heaters or recirculation heaters in central heating installations.
