Abstract

1,069,504. Valves. ANTECH Ltd. Jan. 5, 1966, No. 421/66. Heading F2V. A rotary disc valve comprises a valve member 13, 30 having ports 17, 18 and urged by spring 40 into contact with seal rings 14, 24 surrounding ports 12, 22 in the valve housing, the latter ports communicating with respective openings in the side walls of the housing, as shown, or with respective openings in the bottom wall of the housing (Fig. 4, not shown). In Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) the valve member is provided with two series of ports (17-17e) and (18-18e), each series being arranged along a spiral, and the housing is provided with four equally spaced, radially extending, series of ports (12- 12e, 15-15e, 22-22e and 25-25e), the arrangement being such that pairs of the ports in the valve member such as (17, 18, 17a, 18a) &c. may be brought into alignment with pairs of the ports in the valve member such as (12, 22, 12a, 22a &c. or 15, 25, 15a, 25a &c.). In Figs. 7-9 (not shown) the valve member and housing each have three ports spaced apart by 90 degrees. In Figs. 10-13 (not shown) the housing has four equally spaced ports and the valve member has two ports spaced by 90 degrees. In Fig. 14, the housing has four equally spaced ports and the valve member has three ports spaced apart by 90 degrees. In a further embodiment, the housing has three ports spaced apart by 90 degrees and the valve member has two ports spaced apart by 90 degrees, the ports having diameters equal to half the radius of the valve member. The valve housing and the cover may be of p.v.c. or styrene-butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer.
