Abstract

1,068,710. Knitted collars. SOCIETE DE TRICOTAGE AUBE ET MARNE. Oct. 5, 1965 [Oct. 13, 1964], No. 42162/65. Heading A3V. [Also in Division D1] A fully fashioned collar for a shirt or pullover is produced as a blank, Fig. 1, on straight-bar machine by knitting a number of courses ABCD of the desired width followed by a number of courses CDEF during which widening occurs, and subsequently narrowing during the knitting of a following group of courses EFGH. A final portion GHIJ is knitted of the same width as the first portion whereafter the blank is folded along its longest course and the selvedges linked together. The collar is then attached to the shirt. To assist the fold the longest course may be knitted loosely and to assist the fold of the collar around the neck of the shirt the last portion knitted may be knitted of more courses than the first portion. To align the two portions when the collar is doubled on itself loose courses are provided at the commencement of the knitting and at the appropriate course in the last portion.
