Abstract

1,068,050. Spray producers. R. C. M. GUETET. Oct. 24, 1963 [Oct. 24, 1962], No. 42090/63. Heading B2F. A device for generating a rotational jet of fluid has a hollow body 1a in the shape of a logarathmic spiral. The fluid is tangentially fed at 3a and discharges as a spiral vortex through an outlet 5. The tangential inlet may be inclined with respect to the body such that fluid is fed tangentiallv and towards the outlet 5. In an apparatus for producing a spray of two different materials - liquids or powders - in a spiral vortex of gas. the tangential inlet to the body is inclined, Fig. 7. and feed pipes for the materials are disposed within the hollow body 15 longitudinally thereof. In a wheeled crop spraying apparatus, which may be fed from a tractor power take-off, and incorporating two parallel and spaced jet devices each is fed with air and liquid from respective fan and tank mounted above the devices. In a modified form of this apparatus the treatment liquid is fed to the devices through a circulatory system. In another modification of this apparatus the two jet devices are dispersed coaxially with the result that one rotational jet is annular and surrounds the other. In yet a further apparatus a screw conveyer introduces powder into a single jet device. The wheeled apparatus of Figs. 13, 14 and 15 (not shown) has twin jet devices pointing in opposite directions laterally of the apparatus. These devices are mounted on a platform at the rear of the apparatus which is pivotable about a vertical axis. The devices are also capable of pivotal adjustment. If crop treatment requires a fanlike discharge from the rear of a trailer an apparatus similar to Fig. 20 may be used which has six adjustable jet devices 64 mounted in a vertical plane at the rear of the trailer.
