Abstract

1,066,225. Pneumatic conveyers. H. STERN. June 12, 1964 [June 26, 1963], No. 24478/64. Heading B8A. A rotary vane feeder for granular &c. material has radial vanes 11, Fig. 3, provided with fluid passages 12 whereby gas or liquid may be discharged under pressure at the sealing surfaces to dislodge material entering between the vanes 11 and the casing 2. The rotor is built up by welding U-section members 13 between end plates (15a), Fig. 5 (not shown), the assembly being mounted on radial plates 16 welded to the rotor shaft 8. Folded felt packing 19 is inserted in the radial passages 12 and located by pins 20 in the folds. The gas or liquid is supplied to the centre of the rotor through an aperture 21 in the casing end plate (2b). In modifications the vane tips may be grooved or recessed and supplied with fluid through radial passages. The ends of the vanes may also sealingly engage the end walls of the casing and be supplied with fluid through passages.
