[Also in Division F1] In pneumatic or hydraulic apparatus for discharging solids from a sealed hopper 1, Fig. 1, gas or liquid is injected through one or more inlets 7 concentrically surrounding the material outlet 9. The direction of flow of the injected fluid is substantially in the opposite direction to that of the discharging solid so that turbulence is created at the outlet. The inlet flow may be disposed at angles between zero and substantially less than 90 degrees relative to each other.
