Abstract

1,065,620. Draw gear and transition couplings. SOCIETE GENERALE ISOTHERMOS. Dec. 6, 1963 [Dec. 8, 1962], No. 48375/63. Heading B7T. A draw hook 4, Figs. 1, 2, has pivoted thereon connecting rods 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, which at their other ends provide a head 15 adapted to interlock with a Willison coupler and pivotally support a nut 9 carrying a turnbuckle screw link connection 10, 12, coupling being effected by lifting the gear into position by means of a handle 19. In Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the head is also horizontally pivoted to move in that part of the vertical plane above the rods 7, and the head may be supported in alignment with the rods 7 by a hook engaging beneath the rods. In the embodiment of Figs. 6 and 7 the rods 7 are supported in the operative position by a brace linkage 20, 22 which with the coupling may be manually raised from the track-side, or automatically raised by ramps at the trackside. When tractive effort is applied the centre part 23 is released so that the brac@ returns to its initial position, Fig. 5 (not shown). Springs 26, 26<SP>1</SP> abutting collars 25, 25<SP>1</SP> on the centre part 23 permit the head 16 to yield laterally, and play between the pin connection of the rods 7 to the hook 4 permits buffing forces to be absorbed by a face of a part 28 on the vehicle. In a further embodiment, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), the head 16 which is not laterally movable is provided with guide horns which co-operate with the automatic coupler to produce coupling alignment.
