Abstract

1,064,373. Regulating. M.Y.A.M. SERRUYS and J.A. HARDY. Sept.19, 1963 [Sept.26, 1962], No.36858/63. Heading F1B. The flow of mixture in the intake pipe downstream of the carburetter is controlled by a pair of simultaneously actuated flap or cylindrical valves. The flap valves 11, 12, Fig. 1, which are mounted in a body 2 adapted to be clamped between the carburetter and intake manifold, are of part-cylindrical shape so that when fully open they form a continuation of the cylindrical portion of the mixture passage 4. The valves are opened by a diaphragm 38, responsive to suction upstream or downstream of the valves 11, 12, and are urged closed by a tension spring (28), Fig. 2 (not shown) connected to an arm (27) pivoted on a plate 24 connected to the spindle of valve 12. The valves are interconnected by a link (25) and their closed position is determined by an adjustable stop 30. In Fig. 8 (not shown) the valves comprise rotary cylinders (71), (72), interconnected by toothed sectors 77 and arranged so that when fully open their openings (78) form a cylindrical passage which is a continuation of the cylindrical passage of the carburetter and intake manifold. The valves are actuated by a suction responsive diaphragm and their closed position is determined by a resilient abutment 82 co-operating with a stop.
