Abstract

1324873 Regulating I.C. engine air intake NISSAN MOTOR Co Ltd 6 Oct 1970 [6 Oct 1969] 47418/70 Heading F1B To reduce the rate of increase of air flow through the air intake passage 18 when the throttle valve 10 is opened for engine acceleration a throttling member 22 is provided in the intake passage upstream of the throttle valve. The member 22 is mounted to pivot with a shaft 23 mounted eccentrically of the axis of the intake passage 18 and carrying a weight 25 on a lever 24. The weight 25 biases the member 22 to close the passage 18 against the force produced by the air flow. A lost-motion connection (35.... ....40), Fig. 4 (not shown), maybe provided between the valve 10 and member 22 so that the member fully opens the passage 18 when the throttle valve is fully open. Fuel is supplied to the engine intake passages by respective fuel injectors 15 supplied by an engine-driven injection pump 14 controlled by an actuator 11 in response to the intake manifold vacuum.
