Abstract

A yarn-storage disc for a 2:1 twist-spindle comprises an upper disc with an upwardlyswept flange for upwardly deflecting the yarn, and a lower disc of smaller diameter; both discs are secured to a rotor and are interconnected by a yarn storage section comprising at least one strip of wear-resistant material provided with a gap to serve as the yarn-outlet. The strip(s) may be coated with ceramic material, or be of anodized aluminium, chromium-plated metal, or plastics, or metal and plastics. The strip may be cylindrical or frusto-conical with its upper edges fitting into grooves on the discs, and with a central groove for the yarn. There may be two strips each accurate or polygonal with its ends bent inwardly so that two yarn passages are formed, at the outlet of which hard-wearing guides are provided. When the strips are polygonal, ribs are formed at each angle of the polygon. Each disc has a boss bonded to or attached by screws or screwing to the spindle.
