Abstract

1,063,139. Valves. DOLE VALVE CO. Sept. 29, 1964 [Jan. 8, 1964], No. 39631/64. Heading F2V. A fluid flow control valve has three fluid openings normally in communication with one another, first and second spaced seats 47, 51, a ported valve member 26 guided for movement between the seats, and motor means, such as a temperature-responsive element 71, to actuate the valve member. In the preferred embodiment, the valve divides the flow through a heating convector and a by-pass line while maintaining a constant flow to outlet 13. The valve member 26 is urged by a spring 39 into engagement with a rod 77 actuated by 'the element 71 which is heated by a coil 80. After the member 26 has engaged the lower seat 47, a spring 78 is compressed to accommodate further expansion in the element 71 and a safety switch 83, 84 is opened. Spring-loaded seals 60 are provided for the valve stem.
