Abstract

1,062,541. Squeegees &c. H. M. UNGER. Jan. 25, 1966 [Feb. 4, 1965], No. 4980/65. Heading A4F. [Also in Division B4] A squeegee, scraper or the like comprising a blade 10 mounted in a holder 11 having a channel portion 14 bounded by edge portions 15, 16 is provided with a handle attachment 12 having relatively movable clamping jaws 21, 22 which are arranged to grip the holder 11 and prevent the blade 10 being displaced with respect to the attachment 12. One of the jaws 21 of the attachment which may be provided with a sleeve 19 and a handle extension is fixed whereas the other jaw 22 is rockably supported by a nut and bolt arrangement 23. The jaw 22 is provided with a resilient tongue portion 24 which is normally arranged to urge projections (26) and nibs (27) (Fig 1 not shown) on the jaw 22 into respective engagement with the blade 10 and notches (17) in the holder 11. When the rear part of the jaw 22 is pressed to oppose the spring bias presented by the resilient tongue portion 24, the jaws release the holder 11 and the blade 10 from their grip. The blade 10 can then be removed from the holder 11. The blade 10 may be flexible in which case one of its marginal edge portions is provided with a bead (13) (Fig. 1 not shown) or it may be rigid in which case it may be provided with a backing strip (29) (Fig. 6 not shown).
