Abstract
1,061,548. Preventing and minimizing the spread of fires. G. H. BODIN and K. H. OSSIAN. July 22, 1965, No. 31252/65. Heading A5A. [Also in Division F2] A valve for ventilation ducts is closed in the event of fire by a spring 8 on melting of a fusible washer 12 which normally locks the valve open. The spring is positioned between a fixed sleeve 3 in the opening of the valve seat 1 and a slide 4 which adjustably carries the valve member 7. An external alarm circuit includes contacts (17), Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) broken by movement of the slide. In a modification, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) a split ring fusible element (21) is located by recesses (20, 22) in the slide and sleeve to prevent unauthorized removal.
