Abstract

1,059,545. Air-break switches; contact members for switches. ADAMSON GREEN & CO. Ltd. Feb. 10, 1964, No. 5561/64. Heading H2B. An isolator switch comprises a spaced pair of parallel blades (1, 2) loosely carried on two bolts (11, 12) secured in a bracket (6) with the interposition between the blades and bracket of a wedge-section plate (9) movable by an adjusting screw (19) threaded in bracket (6) to vary the spacing between the blades (1, 2). The bolts (11, 12) are suitably spaced to be received in slots (29, 32) in the ends of respective bus-bar contact strips (3, 4) arranged one above the other in a vertical plane such that the blade assembly may be pivoted about the lower bolt (11), to act as a switch, or may be removed for safety reasons. A carrier (22) of channel shape with closed ends acts as a shroud and has a handle (25) for operation of the assembly. The adjusting screw (19) extends through the carrier and has an insulating head (21) for manually tightening or releasing the blades (1, 2) on the bus-bar contacts (3, 4).
