Abstract

1,059,201. Compressors. GENERAL MOTORS (FRANCE). Oct. 25, 1965 [Oct. 31, 1964], No.44520/64. Heading F1N. The cylinder block (10) of a reciprocating compressor, Fig. 5 (not shown), has formed in the flat surface abutted by a cylinder head (11), intake and discharge silencer chambers (13, 14, 15) and has integral therewith a crankshaft bearing support boss (30), Fig. 1 (not shown), and bosses (33) for supporting an electric drive motor (27). The intake chamber (13) is separated from the discharge chambers (14, 15) by a web (18). Suction gas enters the intake silencer chamber (13) through a port (20) in the side of the block or through pipes (28, 29), and passes therefrom through depending perforated or un-perforated tubes (36, 37) connected to passages (22) in the cylinder head (11) which communicate with the intake port (23) of the cylinder (12). After compression in the cylinder (12) the gas flows through ports (24, 25) in the cylinder head (11) into the discharge chamber (14) and through a port (16) to the silencer chamber (15) which has an outlet port (21). The tubes (36, 37) may be omitted.
