Abstract

1,059,163. Automatic voltage control. WHITWORTH GLOSTER AIRCRAFT Ltd. Nov. 8, 1963 [Aug. 9, 1962], No.30589/62. Heading G3R. A D. C. load is supplied from an A. C. source by way of a transformer, a rectifier and a tank circuit which has its capacitor charged under the control of a switching circuit in dependence upon output voltage variations, whereby the output voltage is maintained at a constant value. As shown, duplicated channels 11 and 12 supply separate outputs. For channel 12 the D.C. output voltage is taken across the capacitor 17 of a tank circuit 18 which also includes an inductor 26 and a diode 27. The charging current for the tank circuit is derived from an input transformer 16 via a full wave rectifier 20 under the control of switching transistors 28. A fraction of the output voltage is fed back on lines 22 to a comparator 23 for comparison with a reference voltage derived from a Zener diode 24, and the output from the comparator 23 is applied over a transistor 40 to a Schmidt trigger circuit 25 which in turn delivers an output signal which is applied via transistors 43 as a controlling bias to the switching transistors 28. A voltage divider 33, 34, 35 in the feedback circuit enables the output voltage to be adjusted to a desired value.
