Abstract
1,057,826. Glutamic acid. ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KABUSHIKI KAISHA. July 25, 1963 [July 30, 1962; Oct. 29, 1962; Dec. 15, 1962], No. 29447/63. Heading C2C. L-Glutamic acid is prepared by culturing with an L-glutamic acid producing micro-organism requiring biotin for growth a culture medium containing molasses as a carbohydrate source and at least one surface active agent or C8-20 alkanol. The surface active agent may be cationic, anionic or non-ionic and is exemplified by polyethylene sorbitan monopalmitate and monostearate, sorbitan monolaurate and monostearate, polyethyleneglycol monostearate, polyoxyethylene phenyl ether, polyoxyethylene alkylamines, betaine-type amphoteric surface active agents and fatty-acid amide sulphonate type anionic surface active agents. Specified micro-organisms are those belonging to the genera Microbacterium, Micrococcus, Brevibacterium and Corynebacterium.
