Abstract

1,056,308. Dynamo-electric machine protection. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. July 7, 1965 [Aug. 27, 1964], No. 35217/64. Heading H2A. [Also in Division H1] In an electrical apparatus, e.g. motor, generator or transformer having at least one winding protected by at least one thermistor 3, the latter is embedded in a thermally conductive heat resisting electrically insulating resinous mass 2 which forms with the thermistor an assembly which is mounted in thermal contact with the winding. The assembly may comprise a strip 1 of absorbent material, e.g. woven glass cloth which is coated with the mass 2 which may be a phenol formaldehyde varnish incorporating a filler, e.g. silica; the strip is folded around the thermistor, pressed to exclude air bubbles, and after binding to the winding may have its resin cured simultaneously with the winding thermosetting resin impregnant. The thermistor wires 4, 5 are connected to a protective switch or warning device.
