Abstract

A solution of diesters of peroxy-dicarbonic acids in perhalogenated alkanes or cycloalkanes, wherein the halogens are fluorine, chlorine, and/or bromine, are prepared by mixing together a halogeno-carbonic acid ester of the general formula X.CO.OR, wherein X represents a halogen atom and R represents an aliphatic, cylcoaliphatic or araliphatic radical, hydrogen peroxide and aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to form a colloidal distribution, the reaction heat being dissipated by indirect or direct heat exchange, and adding to the reaction mixture before or after the end of the reaction the perhalogenated alkane or cycloalkane. The peroxydicarbonic acid diester can be isolated from the solution by, for example, distillation under mild conditions.
