Abstract

1,055,150. Magnetic amplifiers. HITACHI Ltd. Nov. 19, 1963 [Nov. 19, 1962], No. 45660/63. Heading H3B. A feedback loop between the output and input of a magnetic amplifier includes a smoothing circuit. As shown in Fig. 2, a magnetic amplifier M having a positive feedback circuit and giving a degree of amplification which is substantially infinitely large, is provided with a feedback loop having a feedback impedance Zf which feedback loop also includes a smoothing network F. It is shown that the output of the amplifier is independent of the gain of the tuned smoothing circuit and the transient response speed is improved by selecting the gain constant of the smoothing circuit to be as large as possible and its time constant to be limited as far as possible. The smoothing circuit may take the form shown in Figs. 6, 7 (not shown), the circuit of Fig. 7 including a parallel T-type and an inverted L-type CR circuit, the parallel T-type circuit having resonance points at the basic frequency of the exciting power source for the magnetic amplifier and the L-type CR circuit at frequencies harmonic to the basic frequency. An impedance converter in the form of an emitter follower transistor circuit may be connected to the output of Fig. 7, Fig. 8 (not shown).
