Abstract
1,050,408. Coating with metals. J. MORAVEC. Aug.27, 1964, No.35074/64. Heading C7F. A process for metal coating a ferrous surface comprising heating the surface in an oxidizing atmosphere at 250-300‹C until an oxide layer 0À02 microns thick of Fe 3 O 4 and Fe 2 O 3 forms indicated by a yellow brown colour, immediately depositing by vacuum evaporation a metal coating of e.g. Al, Cr, Sb, Cd, Pb and then heating either to the metal melting point or to 400‹C, causing the metal to diffuse into the oxide and the ferrous surface, and also causing the metal oxide to form.
