Abstract

1,050,298. Mechanical seals. MORGANITE CARBON Ltd. May 10, 1965 [May 15, 1964], No. 20344/64. Heading F2B. A mechanical seal, par ticularly for use in domes tic washing machines or spin driers, comprises a rotatable sealing ring 1 urged into facial sealing contact with a a non-rotat able sealing ring 3 by a foamed rubber ring 7 en closed in a flexible shroud 2. The ring 1 is carried by the shroud 2 which is fixed to a rotatable part 6 of the spin drier and the ring 3 is housed in a mounting 4 secured to a fixed part 5 of the drier. Both the shroud 2 and the mounting 4 may be of nitrile rubber.
