Abstract

A ready-to-fit, elastically deformable seal for sliding machine parts having a relatively resistant consistency near the sealing lip, features a highly elastic main body which has plastic characteristics in the sliding zone of its integrally bonded sealing lip zone. The sliding zone may be a coating integral with the main body, made of abrasion-resistance, heat-stable, self-lubricating plastics, e.g. PTFE or a superpolyamide. Used e.g. for shaft seals. No fitting by screwing-together, hence no sealing deficiencies through dimensional imperfections. The main body may be made of butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber, fluorelastomer or poly chloroprene. The coating may be applied by spraying-on or injection moulding.
