A wall panel comprises foam plastics or other insulation 14, Fig. 1, in an aluminium ur other metal container 11 whose side walls 11b extend over only part of the panel thickness, the side walls being completed by a hollow plastics frame 12 having a channel which is sprung on to an inturned flange 11c of the container 11. The frame 12 prevents loss of heat through the side walls and is formed in one piece by notching an extruded plastics length and folding to provide mitred corners (Figs. 2 3, not shown). An external facing layer 17 may be provided, and an inner gypsum board 15 may be secured by screws 16 or by the adhesion of the plastics 14, which is foamed in situ. Alternatively to the foam plastics a loose-fill or solid insulation may be employed. Adjacent panels are connected by a rigid strip 13. In a modification a flanged metal plate 110, Fig. 4, is connected to extruded metal side walls 111 having dovetail recesses into which are sprung hollow plastics frame members 113. The side walls are mitred at the corners but the members 113 are butt-jointed. The members 113 have external ribs to provide grooves where they abut the inner board 114, the grooves allowing escape of air during foaming of the plastics 115. At a corner parts of the frame members 113 may be cut away to expose the chamber 113d and allow the fitting of a connection box for electrical conductors housed within the plastics frame 113.
