Abstract
1,050,151. Boring earth &c. E.G. ISBRAND. Nov. 22, 1962 [Aug. 22, 1961], No. 30255/61. Heading E1F. A sleeve 2 having a cutting edge 5 has an abutment 4 engaged by the leading end of a pipe or hollow body 1 during thrust boring. The inclination of the sleeve relative to the pipe or body may be adjusted by screw or hydraulic jacks mounted on the abutment. Two pipes are thrust into the earth by hydraulic rams 28, 28a (Fig. 7, not shown), bearing against an abutment 27, spacers 21, 21a being interposed between the rams and the pipes. Pipes 30, 31 (Fig. 8, not shown), are thrust into the earth by a ram 29 spacers 32, bearing blocks 33, 35 being provided.
