Abstract

1,049,792. Adjustable seats. SOC. ANON. ANDRE CITROEN. Jan. 10, 1964 [Jan. 10, 1963], No. 1239/64. Heading A4J. A vehicle seat comprises a framework 1 provided in front at each side with a foot 3a which carries a transverse pin 4a. The rear part of the framework is provided with feet 3b which carry pins 4b. Shaped side members 6 are fixed to the vehicle body and are provided with vertical apertures 5a, 5b. Pins 4a slide in apertures 5a and pins 4b slide in apertures 5b. A forked locking plate 7 is disposed near the inner surface of each side member 6 to engage pins 4a, 4b. Plate 7 can move parallel to itself, being guided by shafts 8 which pass through adjacent side member 6 and through elongated apertures 9 formed in plate 7. Plates 7 can be moved by a control lever 11 to disengage, for example, pins 4a. The seat can then be made to pivot about pins 4b to increase or decrease its tilt. Framework 14 of a backrest is adjustable about a pivot 15. A notched rack 18 is fixed to a rod 20 which pivots inside member 6 so that a selected notch in rack 18 engages a rod 17 on framework 14.
