Abstract

534,781. Seats. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and OLDHAM, F. A. M. Dec. 7, 1939, No. 31667. [Class 52 (ii)] Seats particularly for vehicles are carried at each side by levers disposed outwardly from the seat bottom to give a low seating position, the levers at each side being pivoted on a relatively fixed part and the front and rear levers being connected by a coupling bar. The seat bottom 1 is carried at each side by bell crank levers 7 pivoted at 11 to upstanding casings 12 on channelled side members 3 the lower ends of the levers being connected by links 13 to a coupling bar 14 longitudinally movable in the member 3 to adjust the height of the seat. The coupling bars at each side are connected together by a transverse member 15 which is moved longitudinally by a nut and screw 19, 20 by a handle 34. In order to move the seat bodily longitudinally the members 3 are slidably mounted in fixed guides 6 secured to the floor and a nut 27 and screw 25 coaxial with screw 20 is employed being operated by the same handle 34. Telescopic springs 29, 30 are employed to assist in relieving the weight of the occupant. Specification 488,659 is referred to.
