Abstract

1,049,593. Couplings. GREIFZUG GESELLSCHAFT FœR HEBEZLUGHAU m.b.H. April 6, 1964 [April 6, 1963], No. 14010/64. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F2] A device for the transmission of tensile forces and which can be easily released under tensile stress comprises two substantially symmetrically constructed and arranged jaws 12a and 12b which co-operate in the manner of tongs arms, the jaw 12b carrying a stirrup 14 which is pivotable to engage over the jaw 12a and bears on the external surface of the latter when the jaws are closed. The jaws are pivoted at 13 to one end of a body 10 which at the other end has a stud 11. The jaw 12a is provided with a recess 21 for receiving the stirrup 14 when the latter is displaced to release the device, and accidental displacement of the stirrup is prevented by the provision of a spring- loaded pin 20. The latter may be replaced by a separate pin or bolt inserted into a bore in the jaw 12a.
