Abstract
104,700. Lee, A. J. F. Feb. 11, 1916. Exhaust gases, discharging; leakage, discharging.-A vessel of ordinary construction is submerged by an air cushion maintained between its upper parts and an outer vessel which surrounds the submerged vessel above and on each side. The vessels are propelled hy oil-engines i<1>, i<2> supplied with air from the air cushion and preferably housed in the outer vessel. The exhaust is led into a chamber D and then compressed into a chamber D', from which it is intermittently discharged. The chamber D' is fitted with a float controlled leakage discharge pipe. The outer vessel is fitted with two vertically adjustable observation hoods fitted with hinged glazed hatches adapted in the closed position to open leakage discharge valves.
