Abstract
The invention comprises guanylhydrazones of tetracyclic and pentacyclic triterpenes free from nitrogen-containing basic groups, the guanylhydrazone grouping being of the general formula <FORM:1046572/C2/1> (wherein A represents H or a C1- 6 alkyl radical and B represents H, a C1- 6 alkyl radical which may be joined to A, a nitro group or a basic radical of the general formula <FORM:1046572/C2/2> wherein R and R1 are identical or different C1- 6 alkyl radicals or form with N a heterocyclic ring, and n is 2, 3 or 4, with the proviso that A and B are not both H), and their non-toxic addition salts with inorganic and organic acids, and the preparation thereof by the processes of the examples, which may be summarized as reaction of the appropriate triterpenes, containing one or more oxo groups, with the appropriate aminoguanidines or their salts. As alternatives to the latter there may be used thiosemicarbazides or S-alkyl-isothiosemicarbazides with subsequent reaction of the product with the appropriate amine, or hydrazine with subsequent reaction of the product with the appropriate cyanamide or S-alkyl-isothiourea.
