Abstract

High strength steel, particularly a maraging steel, is welded by the gas-shielded arc-welding process using a filler of the following percentage composition:- .Ni.11-15 .Cr.1-6.7 .Mo.1-3.3 .Al.0-0.25 .Ti.0.2-0.55 .Fe.the remainder The following incidental elements may also be present: C up to 0.05, Co up to 1.5, Mn up to 0.8, Cu up to 0.5, Si up to 0.3, Ta up to 0.2, V up to 0.15, Nb up to 0.25. The weld may be aged at 800-1200 DEG F for 1/2 -12 hours.
